South Australia experienced the second consecutive year of winter drought Spring was cool and dry, conditions that continued well into November delaying flowering and fruit0set With soil moisture levels well below average, irrigation was vital in all regions. The 2019 calendar year was one of the driest on record, with spring frosts an issue for some districts. December was hot and dry, with cooler conditions in January and February providing some welcome relief. VVhile bunch weights and berry numbers v.tere generally low across the state, the harvest produced some outstanding parcels of shiraz and cabemet sauvignon with great intensity and flavour.
