Survivor Wines Triumphs at 2024 Trophy Wine Show

Survivor Wines has achieved a remarkable feat at the 2024 Trophy Wine Show, with the Survivor Tradouw Cellar Master Cabernet Franc Merlot 2022 scoring 93 points and securing 9th place among the Top 10 Red Wines.

The results of the 2024 Trophy Wine Show, sponsored by Investec, have become crucial for Cape wine producers. In a pressured domestic market and fragile export environment, success at this prestigious competition can be transformative. As noted in the Trophy Wine Show press release, “Astute wine buyers know that a medal – any medal – awarded by the Trophy Wine Show judges is a guarantee of wine quality.”

This year, 640 wines were judged, with 286 earning bronze medals, 125 silver, and 32 capturing gold. The rigorous judging process involved blind tastings by panels of international and local experts, ensuring that quality alone determined the outcomes. Investec’s head of Private Banking, Itumeleng Merafe, expressed pride in supporting South Africa’s wine industry, offering clients exclusive access to award-winning wines and unique experiences.

The Survivor Cellar Master Cabernet Franc Merlot 2022 captivated the judges with its deep ruby colour and inky depth, accented by shades of garnet. The wine’s flavour profile is a symphony of red currant, dried cranberry, red plum, and red bell pepper, complemented by subtle notes of cedar, wet slate, and freshly tilled earth. Aromas of rose petals and violets add an old-world charm, while a refreshing acidity and graphite like tannins ensure a balanced, long-lasting finish. We are truly looking forward to sharing this new vintage with our closest supporters and community in the upcoming winter months!
